JR and Lindsay live across the street from wilacre park/fryman canyon so we decided to hike the trail. should've went earlier because the sun was setting so we weren't able to finish the trail....but it was still a good 45 min hike! itching to put aside a sunday to explore runyon canyon park with the usual suspects =) excuse the bad quality pics (taken from iphone)

coulda went to the beach for memorial day but didnt want to deal with the crowd so we kept it mellow by going to the movies to watch "Exit Through The Gift Shop"...ive been fascinated with Banksy and his work since our NYC trip in Oct '08. i was fortunate to see him in action, marking a wall around the corner from jasper's apt. anyhow, the movie wasnt really about Banksy but about a videographer named Thierry Guetta who was following/documenting Banksy and other street artists. i dont want to spoil the movie so i suggest you go watch it!

after the movie, we stopped by "Le Diplomate Cafe" which was conveniently located in the same center. cant complain about cheap n' tasty sandwiches!

mo's genius suggestion led us to check out Father's Office in Culver City. im not really a fan of burgers but dayaaammn the Office Burger is probably one of the best burgers ive ever had. the burger is composed of dry aged beef on a french roll with caramelized onions, gruyere and bleu cheese, applewood bacon compote, and arugula. i ordered the beef medium well and it was still nice and juicy! you cant eat a burger without fries so we got a basket of the sweet potato fries with roasted garlic, cabrales, and blue cheese aioli. with so many beers on tap we were confused on what to order so i asked the bartender to pick a beer for J...he got the Craftsman 1903 which was really nice n' smooth...i stuck with something more familiar, a glass of Lindemans Peche. my thursday nite was complete with lovely company and lovely food! what more can i ask for?!

tues was supposed to be our post valentines lunch n' massages day. but with a packed weekend coming up, we were stuck running errands for jeff/mare/rick's jersey shore bday party and mammoth. since we were in the area, we decided to stop and have lunch at Plums Cafe (Costa Mesa). nothing on the menu caught my eye, so i went safe and got a soup n' sandwich. the sandwich was ordinary, but the soup was amazing..loaded with avocado....yummm!

as a kid, chinese new year was one of my favorite holidays. it was like winning the lottery! as you get older you don't get as much $$ as the little ones. family tradition is that we play black jack after receiving our "lucky money" to see how lucky it really is! the older cousins would take turns being the dealer. i have little cousins that are in 3rd grade playing black jack.. hahaha! i dunno if thats such a good thing but its fun watching all the cousins trynna win money from each other this year, chinese new year landed on feb 14th....same day as valentines and max's 1st birthday. with so much going on in one day, valentines had to wait. brunch and massages coming soon =)

banksy- a british graffiti artist who is well known for his stencil style "guerilla" art is also famous for being infamous. no one really knows who banksy is, how he looks like, or anything about his history. what we do know is his art is amazing and thought provoking. banksy's first film Exit Through The Gift Shop premiered at the sundance film festival in park city, utah. the film is set to be released in theaters spring 2010. im anxious to see if there'll be a screening in or around southern cali. a few of banksy's work have already popped up in the streets of park city and salt lake city.

first time ever going to coachella was in '07. my first coachella will probably be my favorite coachella. bjork, chilli peppers, and rage against the machine were the headliners. there were so many great bands lined up that yr..we were hopping from tent to tent just to make sure to catch all the good acts. to name a few...brazilian girls, amy winehouse, blonde redhead, mstrkrft, explosions in the sky, lupe fiasco, and last but not least AIR! we did it right, we rented a nearby hotel and spent all 3 days at the fest. between tickets, hotel, food, alcohol, gas...i probably shelled out $600 that weekend. but i didnt care...it was for a once in a lifetime experience! drunk the minute we woke up..drunk the minute we fell asleep, running/rolling around in the grass, just feeling free in the dessert, forgetting about reality at home (work, school, etc.). siggghhh..the good old days when we lived with little hesitation. with my finances being more restricted nowadays..i cant bring myself to spend $300 for the 3 day pass. coachella '08 came and we decided to only go one day, the last day-sunday. we had a great time but it just wasnt comparable to the year before. BUT portishead was amazing!!! we're unable to go this year bc our NY trip is the same weekend. theres always next yr!

ive been quite anxious to see jean paul gaultier's lookbook for his collabo with target and i must add, it didnt make me jump for joy. his collection is scheduled to be released march 7th nationwide at selected stores. no doubt, i will still go to check it out because maybe itll change my opinion when i see it in person. Zac Posen is also doing a collabo with target and his line is set to be released on april 25th. i also saw the lookbook for his collection and it also didnt make me jump for joy. how dissapointing! JPG and ZP are soooo talented when it comes to high-fashion..will they be able to deliver the same quality fashion to the average consumer?? we'll just have to wait and see!

ever since Bravo introduced The Rachel Zoe Project, ive been obsessed! ive seen every episode..well, it isnt that hard because there has only been two seasons. BRAD GORESKI, RZ's assistant, is the main reason why i watch this show! his personality and the things that come out of that boy's mouth is just hysterical! brad's style is nerdy chic and i love it! loafers, vintage blazers, cardigans, plaids and bowties! brad, i must admit i have a gay crush on u =)

we're going to mammoth in february for Jeff"s, Mare's, n Rick's bdays!!! last year we went to mardi gras. had a helluva time but im straight off mardi gras for atleast a few more years. lol. so, this year we decided to go back to mammoth since everyone had such a blast for the trio's bdays in '08. im bummed that we arent able to stay in the same house as we did last time. we were literally a block away from the lifts. the house was spacious and full of snow toys (sleds, tubes,etc) so we were always playing in the snow even if we werent snowboarding. this time, we're staying about a mile away from the lifts but the good thing is...theres a shuttle right outside the property that'll take us to the lifts. im anxious for this trip because the snow at bear, summit, or mtn. high just doesnt compare! come to think of it...i better not have forgotten how to ride!!

people have cravings for specific foods...so do i and thats normal. but most dont tend to crave for hot sauce. my favorite hot sauce isnt even hot compared to other hot sauces. i can eat fairly spicy so sriracha is pretty mild . i simply like it because it adds the perfect "kick" to whatever im eating...a bowl of pho, a burrito, spaghetti, fries...anything! seriously this sh*t goes with EVERYthing. if u dont know, now u know.

a few months back, bernardo (jeff's coworker) visited his homeland of italy and brought us back a bottle of grappa. the last time we had dinner at bernardo's, he showed us an expansive selection of unique spirits from around the world. i experienced alot of "firsts" that night...i sampled many different types of wines, whiskey, rum, brandy, and limoncellos that i've never tried before. point is, the boy knows his stuff...he prevented me from throwing up by serving me the right amount to just "taste" and not mixing certain drinks together. i cant speak for jeff..i spent the latter part of the night hosing down bernardo's backyard.

fast forward to present time...the bottle of grappa has been sitting in our wine rack for few months just waiting for the perfect occasion to be opened. no it wasnt thanksgiving, no it wasnt christmas, it was monday, dec 28th to be exact. random!?! the rest of the liquor was already polished and it was only 730 so we really had no choice but to pop the cork! there were about 20-25 people at the house drinking, eating, and mingling. we managed to get most of the people to take a shot of grappa. most have never tried it before so they didnt know what to expect. my eyes were watering because it tasted like i just took a swig of 91 octane gasoline..that shit burned the whole way down. blehhh! ive had other grappas before and they were not that "fiery". definitely an acquired taste! after about 4 rounds of shots, the bottle was finished pretty quickly. that alone took the party to a whole 'notha level! ha! definitely an unexpected fun monday night!

So last nite mo, chris, jeff, and i decided to try out a new shabu shabu restaurant in Chino Hills, Ichikawa Shabu Fondue & Yakitori. the original plan was to go watch Avatar in 3D but im glad we decided to stuff our faces instead..which means movie date coming soon because im anxious to see what the hype is! we decided to order "shabu for 2". for around $40 you get two drinks, two apps, two shabu, and a dessert for two. we started off with baked mussels and salad for the apps. as for the shabu shabu, we both ordered angus beef; i got the "seoul spicy" broth, which has 19 different spices in the soup (Wow!!) and jeff got the "spicy miso" (unfortunately i forgot to try some). what i liked about Ichikawa is that they had about 6 different soup bases u can choose from. most places only offer the traditional soup base flavored by Konbu, a japanese seaweed. i prefer my food spicy so i requested for the "hot drops". the server reminded me repeatedly that i'd only need one drop in my soup...thank god i listened because my soup was perfect. any spicier, it would've ruined the taste. jeff, a brave soul, put 3 drops in his soup and handled it like a champ! my favorite part of shabu shabu is making udon soup with the leftover beef and veggies. by the time i was done sipping the soup, my nose was running like no other and my mouth was on fire. for dessert we chose the deep fried green tea ice cream and mo/chris chose the deep fried red bean ice cream. Mmmm, yummy delicious! good way to spend a sunday evening with some of my dearest friends! we missed u patti, rich, mare, and shawn!

my parents had the Live-The Virgin Tour on vhs and i remember the first time i watched it..i instantly fell in love with madonna (not in a sexual way...u perverts) but i fell in love with her voice, her dance moves, her style.. everything about her! our family used to own a video store and i was so excited when my pops brought the Truth or Dare poster home for me. he made it clear i wasnt allowed to watch the documentary..it was rated R and i was probably about 8 or 9 at the time. i can't remember what i did with that damn poster. i didnt think much of it then, but now i'm kicking myself in the ass bc it would look soooo good framed and hung on my wall....siggggh...on another note, lourdes is growing up to be quite a lovely young lady...the girl's got great style!

my parents have never been the "dog lover" types...only because they never gave a dog a chance. so when my brother decided to get a dog, of all breeds to break them in...a pitbull. luckily for him..it was love at first sight. rukkus would follow mom's every step when she's watering her plants in the morning or sit right next to dad's feet and watch tv for hours on end. u can tell the feeling of adoration is mutual. my cute little mom has a heavy vietnamese accent and still cant pronounce "rukkus"..to her "rukkus" is "rocket". haha...it makes me laugh every single time. they're constantly teaching him new commands in both english and vietnamese. i would never imagine my parents who are 60+ yrs old would devote so much time into taking care, training, and playing with a pitbull pup. my brother works all day and i dont live at home so the house is quiet when we're not there (although i do visit often)..having Rukkus there as their loyal companion is a comforting feeling. my parents say rukkus keeps them young. haha...im all for it!

Most of the time i’m referring to the amount of time it takes to find parking. circling the lot over and over and over. but this time I’m referring to the idiots who are in so much of a hurry they can’t even park correctly! if I have to get to my driver seat by climbing thru the passenger seat…u’ve successfuly pissed me off! get ur fatty truck tire outta my lane! and yes I did leave a nice lil note on the window for the douchebag.

the bf and i make it a point to visit our favorite crepe spot every so often-crepes de paris. their selection of dessert and savory crepes satisfies my cravings everysingletime. my favorite dessert crepe is probably the Royal Crepe. whats in it?? a generous spread of nutella, strawberries, and bananas blanketed by a perfectly fried crepe, topped w/ powdered sugar, whipped cream, and a heaping scoop of vanilla ice cream. ive been meaning to find a yummy crepe batter recipe...and when i do..im inviting you over to my crepe party =)
